Type Locality and Naming
Along the Kuruksay stream, northern foothills of the N. Nuratau range. I.A. Pyanova, V.S. Korsakov in 1976 (481, p. 15).
Synonym: Kuruksayskaya Formation (Olistostrome), Курукская св. (ополистострома)
Lithology and Thickness
Gray-green and dark-green claystone (argillites) and slates, including fragments and boulders of limestones with late Cambrian trilobites, dolomites with microphytolites of the late Proterozoic Bogambir Fm, greenish-gray sandstones and variegated slates of the Ilonchisay Fm, and metadiabasites and spilites of the Shavaz Fm.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact

Regional extent
A strip in the northern foothills of the North Nuratau range, northeast of the village of Ilonchi, extending 1.3 km to the north-south.
